We loved hosting the Spartan Race to benefit TUGG at Fenway because not only did we challenge the tech community to support social entrepreneurship - as we always do - we also put a challenge out there for the athletes among us to push themselves to their limits.
Over 20 startup teams rose to the challenge and raised money for our continued efforts to fund the non-profits in our portfolio. For the winners and the winning times, go to our recap blog on the TUGG BostInno channel, which also profiles the TUGG November events including Techies Got Talent and the Dan Scharfman Memorial Run.
Setting up a grueling series of events is the specialty of the Spartan Race organization and they did not shortchange us. Starting with a nose-to-the-ground set of hand release pushups in the locker rooms as a warm up, the fearless and fittest techies faced a obstacle course with full of challenges including a javelin throw into a haystack, 8 foot walls to scale, and 500 meter rows to be completed within 2 minutes. Was there failure? Sometimes, but at a high price of 30 burpees per obstacle. Ouch.
