#TUGG10: A Look at 2009 with DataXu

WE'RE CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF TUGG AND THE TECH COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER!

Values: Innovation Through Collaboration

After 3 years of organizing the Wine Party, Jeff and Hemant knew they had something extraordinary to offer Boston’s tech and nonprofit communities. In December of 2009 TUGG (Technology Underwriting Greater Good) was officially founded as a 501C3 by Jeff Fagnan, Hemant Taneja, and Dana Samuels. Dana joined as our Executive Director and the 2009 Wine Party served as TUGG’s official launch.

Also in 2009, DataXu was founded on the premise that data science could help make marketing better. Not just more efficient for agencies or more profitable for brands, but also more personalized and more engaging for consumers.

"Since we left the labs at MIT, DataXu has been focused on using science to make marketing better. While it’s great that the Boston area’s world leading universities churn out super smart data scientists, there’s a huge opportunity gap in our region and society. That’s why our values include innovation through collaboration not just for our business, but also for the Boston community. TUGG, Year Up, and our own DataXu Cares monthly service partnerships define who we are and how we connect to the greater good. The DataXu team is already looking forward to #TUGG10, as it’s a fun way to build a community that supports the development of local service providers."  - Mike Baker, CEO, DataXu
