Let the Games Begin: Boston’s 2nd Annual Entrepreneur Games Get Underway
600 entrepreneurs and investors compete to benefit BUILD Greater Boston
Boston, Massachusetts – May 8, 2014 – Teams are forming and training has begun for Boston’s much anticipated 2nd annual Entrepreneur Games, where tech entrepreneurs and VCs will compete to support local youth entrepreneurship programs. More than 600 members of Boston’s tech community will be competing in over 25 athletic activities and mental challenges to benefit Build Greater Boston. The Entrepreneur Games will be held on June 19, 2014 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center and is being organized in partnership with TUGG, Silicon Valley Bank, RaceMenu, Plastiq, TechStars, T3 Advisors, MassChallenge, and the New England Venture Capital Association.
“The inaugural Entrepreneur Games last year exceeded our highest expectations and we are excited to double the impact this year,” said Sasha Hoffman, BUILD Greater Boston board member and Entrepreneur Games event organizer. “It is an incredibly fun, high energy event which helps widen the circle of friends around BUILD; not only raising money, but exposing participants to our mission and encouraging them to get involved with our students.”
The Entrepreneur Games are a fun, friendly competition. Ten teams, representing ten different countries, will compete against each other to take home the Gold. Each team includes 40 people – some teams are comprised of one company while others combine multiple organizations. Games include volleyball, dodgeball, rhythmic gymnastics, inflatable obstacle courses, relay races, a 50 yard dash, world’s strongest man, dance dance revolution and more.
“BUILD Greater Boston gets stronger and more effective every day thanks to the amazing support we receive from the tech community and actively engaged partners like TUGG,” said Ayele Shakur, executive director of Build Boston. “The Entrepreneur Games are a great way to build camaraderie amongst teams, show off athletic prowess and have fun while supporting BUILD’s mission.”
Over 30 corporate and food and beverage sponsors will be present at the games including: Equinox, Crossfit, Social Boston Sports, ZICO, KIND, Core Power, Samuel Adams, Boloco, Popeyes, Chicken and Rice Guys, BodyArmor, Flybridge Capital Partners, Atlas Venture, Boston Seed, LogMeIn and more!
